Bellatrix is our Brown Newfoundland dog.

Bellatrix is also the 22nd brightest star in the night sky. A pale yellow star marking the left shoulder of Orion.

Bellatrix, the "Female Warrior", or the Amazon Star; from the Arabic,  Al Najid, "the Conqueror". Also called Yad al-Jauza', "Hand of Orion". The dog Nana in James M. Barrie's Peter Pan was a Newfoundland.
